Breakfast in a Box – the Perfect Party Favor Idea

Last updated on January 5, 2023

Breakfast in a box, the perfect party favor! Imagine going to someone’s home for dinner, a cocktail party or perhaps a beautiful wedding and getting to leave with breakfast for the morning. I’d say that is hospitality at it’s finest! The ideas are endless, but to get your creative juices started I’ve come up with my own sample of an easy, but classy breakfast in a box. My version comes with scones and lemon curd, packaged in a restaurant style take-out box, with sparkly ribbons and rustic, but cool, mini clothespins. (Just add coffee)

Uses:

  • wedding guest favor
  • gifts for workmates
  • teacher appreciation day
  • get well package (in lieu of flowers)
  • dinner party favor to take home
  • to show gratitude for your babysitter, mailman, pool guy, doctor, UPS driver, neighbor, dry cleaner, gardener, accountant, etc…
  • for your significant other (sneak it bedside the night before)
  • cocktail party gift (I guarantee it won’t make the ride home!)
  • anniversary gift

Supplies:

  • Boxes (pastry boxes, chinese take out boxes or even sturdy cute bags with handles) Most of the time you can find them at stores such as Smart and Final, Michaels Crafts and Target. Choose your size depending how much stuff you’re putting in it.
  • Tissue paper
  • Clear baked goody bags (baking store, or Michaels)
  • Decorative ribbon
  • Cardstock paper, scissors, computer and a printer
  • Mini laundry clips/clothespins (I bought mine at the Paper Source. Michaels Crafts has a large selection of fun clips as well. Even Etsy sells them.)
  • Shipping tags (office supply store will carry these in many sizes and colors)
  • Pre-made lemon curd or jam (Trader Joes lemon curd rocks!)
  • Scone mix in a variety of flavors (unless you want to do yours from scratch, I didn’t)

Directions:

  1. Make your scones as directed. I use a mix that tastes better than my own homemade ones. The brand is Sticky Fingers which can be bought at Cost Plus World Market. It comes in many flavors. My favorites are plain, lemon poppyseed and rasberry white chocolate.
  2. Write out your shipping tags for the scones. (see above photo)
  3. Put scones in clear baggies and tie with shipping tags.
  4. Print “Breakfast in a Box” from your computer using card stock. Jazz things up by using fun prints or textures. Cut labels according to the size of your box.
  5. Cut ribbons to size.
  6. Assemble your boxes. (see below photos)

You can definitely get creative and customize your boxes! Have fun, the ideas can be endless…
